We are all constantly on a quest for one thing or another and a little lion thinks he found his. After the "complete defeat" of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Little Lion thinks he has what he has waited for: a sign that everything's going to be OK this season ... and the Nittany Lions we know (and love) are back. This kind of reflects how we all now are very close to complete faith in our Nittany Lions' ability after this win. The complete mastery of the field by the Lions against a good team is what we've been waiting to see and didn't really see in the first four wins. But we all wonder if this can continue into the next game and hope it wasn't a one time thing. The Little Lion decides to test the sign and see it's true power, asking for a little assistance in defeating #6 Ohio State. JoePa states some standard dialog relative to big games (similar to what he said in his Tuesday press conference); and the Nittany Lion knows that it's never that simple - especially now. I've used the "golden gopher" as the support for the sign seeing that the win over Minnesota is the foundation for the sign, envisioning the whole sign assembly as a bright golden treasure (a la Indiana Jones). I think that we're all ready to sign on for full belief in the Nittany Lions, but we'll need just one more little thing for that - a win over Ohio State, since they found a way to win the last three and are ranked #6. I also revisited two of my favorite and constant themes when dealing with Ohio State (since we joined the Big 10 in 1993), which are calling the mascot "Beavis" instead of "Brutus" and calling him a "horse chestnut" as opposed to a buckeye. The first one is just a disrespectful slant on the closeness of Brutus' name to that of one of two cartoon characters on the 90's cartoon "Beavis and ..." (you fill in the rest). The second one relates to my amazement about finding out exactly what a "buckeye" was. I always thought it was some wonderous treat of nature that grew on the other side of the Pennsylvania - Ohio border. But one day I was at a tailgate and a PSU/OSU fan hybrid had one there and I was shocked when she handed me this item and said "this is a buckeye". Not some exotic wonder but just a run of the mill item we refer to in Pennsylvania as a "horse chestnut". So from that point on Brutus always gets a comment on what he really may be on this side of the border. Little Lion, let's hope you've found a valid sign and we get to see it work well against Beavis ... er, Brutus, the horse chestnut, ...er buckeye. A win may put the Lions in a long lost territory ... the top ten!
